*The updated Business Performance Analytics has currently been released to customers on our beta program for feedback. These updates will be live to all customers following the successful beta phase. To be part of the intelliHR beta program please contact your CSM/AM.
Business Performance Analytics is designed to allow you to review performance at an organisational level. However, within your business, different areas of the business may require performance reviews that focus on different metrics; for example, the sales team may have a metric related to revenue generation whereas the engineering team may have a metric related to feature development. So that these disparate metrics can all be pulled into one analytics page for business performance intelliHR supports the configuration of organisation-wide metrics directly from this page. This article will detail how to configure the metrics for this page and also how to amend the scale so that teams with different rating scales can also be accounted for on the same analytics page.
This article covers:
- What are we referring to as Business Performance Metrics?
- Configuration of Business Performance Metrics in Analytics
- Configuration of the Business Performance Score Scale
What are we referring to as Business Performance Metrics?
In the following section of this guide we will describe how to configure the business performance metrics that display on the analytics page for business performance, but first, here is a look at what we are configuring on the page.
The two images above show the areas on the Business Performance Analytics where the performance metrics are displayed.
By default these are set to Compliance, Productivity, Quality, Teamwork and Values.
The metrics by which performance is measured will be individual to most businesses and therefore you will want to amend these metrics to reflect the performance metrics used in your business.
The following section explains how these metrics can be customised for your business.
Configuration of Business Performance Metrics in Analytics
- Scenario 1 - All team member performance is measured against the same metrics
This common scenario makes the configuration of the business performance analytics super simple.
To configure the analytics page:
1. Go to Analytics >> Analytics Settings
2. Select Business Performance Metrics
3. Click on the pencil icon to Edit the name of these default performance metrics to match the metrics by which you measure performance in your business; for example, edit the name of Compliance to Innovation.
4. Add any additional metrics you wish to be displayed on the analytics page (some businesses may have up to 8 key metrics that they measure performance against. Alternatively if you have less than 5 you can remove the metric)
5. Click Add Subject Response to identify which response should pull through to this metric to populate the charts.
6. Select Metric Group and then select the relevant options from the drop-down lists to configure the correct questions to pull through to analytics charts.
7. Repeat step 6 to Add Supervisor Response and Peer Response (if applicable)
8. Save your changes at the bottom of the page and review your Business Performance Analytics.
- Scenario 2 - Different business areas are measured against the different performance metrics
In the event that your performance reviews are tailored to specific departments and roles you may have created multiple performance metrics and included these in performance report templates for those departments and roles.
This flexibility facilitates a performance report that measures performance against different metrics depending on the team member in question.
However, in business performance analytics we need to reconcile those different metrics into an overarching set so that you can compare performance across the business. This is configured in Business Performance Metrics on the Analytics page. To configure the analytics page in this scenario:
1. Go to Analytics >> Analytics Settings
2. Select Business Performance Metrics
3. Click on the pencil icon to Edit the name of these default performance metrics.
You can have more or less than the default 5 metrics, but you will want these measures of performance to be overarching; for example, a sales specific performance metric such as Revenue Generation may not be applicable to engineering who may be measured on their work's First Pass Yield. To measure performance across these two separate metrics they could both be grouped under the metric ''Productivity'; therefore in step 3 you can create a metric for 'Productivity' and include both of these metrics as seen in the screenshot below.
4. Click Add Subject Response to identify which response should pull through to this metric to populate the charts.
5. Repeat step 4 to Add Supervisor Response and Peer feedback (if applicable)
6. Save your changes at the bottom of the page and review your Business Performance Analytics.
Configuration of the Business Performance Score Scale
The business performance analytics on intelliHR has also provided a solution for different rating scales to be viewed on one analytics page and for data from distinct rating scales to be compared across one scale.
To do this you can configure the Business Performance Score Scale.
Note: If all employees are measured against the same ratings and/or the same rating scale it is not required that you configure the business performance score scale, although the label wording can be amended.
However, for performance processes that make use of different rating scales across the business follow the steps below:
1. Go to Analytics >> Analytics Settings
2. Select Business Performance Score Scale
3. Select the Number of Scale Intervals
4. Adjust the Scale Interval labels as required. As seen in the screenshot above these scale interval labels will be the labels that display on the reader chart and heatmaps on your Business Performance Analytics.
