The Clocking widget gives you a quick view of your current clocking status and shift context right from your device's home screen, without opening the Work app. Tap the widget to jump straight into the app to start work, take a break, or clock out.
The widget is available on iOS and Android in small and medium sizes (from v1.28). Clocking actions happen in the app: tapping the widget opens the Work app at the clocking screen.
Add the widget on iOS
- Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen on your phone until the apps jiggle.
- Tap the Edit button in the top-left corner.
- Select Add Widget.
- Search for Humanforce and select it.
- Select the small widget or scroll right to the medium widget.
- Tap Add Widget and then position it where you want to see it on the screen.
- Tap Start Work to begin your shift.
Add the widget on Android
- Touch and hold an empty area of your Home screen on your phone.
- Tap widgets.
- Search for Humanforce then touch and hold the small or medium widget.
- Drag it to an empty space on your Home screen and release.
- Tap Start Work to begin your shift.
Understanding the synced time
The widget shows a last synced status, (for example, "Synced 1 hr ago). This tells you when the widget last refreshed its information from the Work app. The widget displays a saved copy of your clocking status rather than checking live every second, so the times and countdowns it shows are based on that last update.
Any timers on the widget, such as your elapsed shift time, break duration, or the countdown to your next shift, are worked out on your device and are a guide only. They can be off by up to about a minute until the next refresh. Your actual recorded times always come from the Work app and Humanforce, not from the widget.
If the widget doesn't match the app
Phones limit how often a widget can refresh, so the widget can sometimes be slightly behind the app:
On iOS, the widget refreshes when you open the Work app, or when your phone updates it in the background at times chosen by iOS.
On Android, the widget refreshes when you open the Work app and automatically around every 30 minutes.
If you clock in or out on another device, or your session ends, the widget may show older information until it next refreshes.
To bring the widget up to date, open the Work app. This refreshes the widget with your latest clocking status straight away.
Additional information
- For Android installation, steps can vary slightly depending on your device model and Android version.
- You need to be signed in to the Work app for the widget to show your clocking status.
The widget redirects you into the app to clock in or out; it does not clock you in or out on its own.
