Follow this guide to view, start, and manage one-to-one or group chats using the Chat (BETA) page in Humanforce WFM (Web).
This feature allows direct and group messaging between employees and managers and supports file sharing, emojis, and GIFs.
The new Chat feature is only compatible with the Humanforce Work app. It does not connect to the Legacy (yellow) Humanforce app. If your organisation still uses the Legacy app, see Send and manage chats and notifications in Humanforce WFM (Web) – Legacy
Part 1: View and access your chats
- Go to Employee > Messages > Chat (new) in Humanforce WFM.
- The Chat (BETA) page opens, displaying your Direct messages list on the left and the selected conversation in the main panel.
- Use the Search employee
bar to find an existing chat or user quickly.
- Click a name or group chat from the left panel to open the conversation.
- Unread messages display a blue indicator.
- The full conversation history appears in the main panel.
- To view chat members, click the ⋮ (More options) icon at the top right and select Chat info.
- The members list displays on the right-hand side.
You’ve now successfully opened and viewed your messages in Humanforce WFM (Web).
Part 2: Start a new chat
You can start a direct (one-to-one) or group chat from the Chat (BETA) page.
- Go to Employee > Messages > Chat (new).
- Click + New > Chat.
- The New Chat window appears.
- Use the Search bar to find users by name.
- (Optional) Click the
Filter icon to refine your results by:
- Region
- Location
- Department
- Role
- Pay Company
- Select one or more users to include in the chat.
- Selected users appear in a bar at the top of the window.
- Click Create.
The chat opens in a new conversation window and appears in your Direct messages list.
Part 3: Send a messages
- Select a chat from the Direct messages list.
- Type your message in the Send a message field at the bottom of the screen.
- (Optional) Add content using the icons below the text field:

Emoji – insert emojis into your message.

Attach file – upload files such as PDFs, images, or videos.
- Drag and drop your file into the window, or click Browse Files and select Upload.

GIF – open the GIF search panel to find and insert GIFs.
- Click the GIF icon to toggle the search panel.
- Type your search term in the message field and press Enter or Send to trigger the search.
- Click Shuffle to see another GIF option.
- Click Send once you’re happy with your selection.

- Press Enter or click
Send to send your message.
Your message appears in the chat thread for all participants to view.
Additional information
- Access to the Chat (new) feature depends on your organisation’s configuration.
Administrators can manage who can view, start, and reply to messages via Access Levels. - Messages are synced between Humanforce WFM (Web) and the Humanforce Work app.
- Chats allow direct and group communication between employees and managers.
- Deleted chats only remove them from your view; they may still be retained for compliance purposes depending on your organisation’s policy.
- File uploads may be restricted by your organisation’s security settings.
