Follow this guide to configure permissions that control access to the Update Job and Job Actions buttons in Humanforce HR.
These permissions are applied within a permission group and can be scoped to Own, Subordinates, or All, depending on the level of access required.
In most cases, you will apply the Subordinates scope to allow managers to manage jobs for their direct reports.
Users with limited access may not be able to complete this task. Contact your system administrator if you cannot view or edit permission groups.
Part 1: Enable the Update Job button
The Update Job button only appears when all required permissions are applied within the same permission group.
Go to Settings > Permissions.
Open the relevant permission group.
In the search bar, enter job.
Enable the
people.jobs.editpermission with the appropriate scope (Own, Subordinates, or All):Enable the granular permissions for the job fields that the user will be able to view and edit. Examples of these are;
people.jobs.business_entity.managepeople.jobs.business_unit.managepeople.jobs.employment_condition.managepeople.jobs.establishment.managepeople.jobs.fte.manageANDpeople.jobs.fte.viewpeople.jobs.location.managepeople.jobs.pay_grade.managepeople.jobs.performance_report.managepeople.jobs.position_title.managepeople.jobs.recruitment.editANDpeople.jobs.recruitment.viewpeople.jobs.remuneration_schedule.manageANDpeople.jobs.remuneration.viewpeople.jobs.supervisor.managepeople.jobs.work_class_type.manageANDpeople.jobs.work_class_type.view
Click Save.
The Update Job button will now be visible on employee job records for users assigned to this permission group, along with access to edit or manage each granular job field.
Part 2: Enable the Job Actions button
The Job Actions button appears when at least one of the relevant permissions below is enabled.
Unlike the Update Job button, you do not need all permissions applied for this button to display.
Go to Settings > Permissions.
Open the relevant permission group.
In the search bar, enable one or more of the following permissions with the appropriate scope (Own, Subordinates, or All):
people.jobs.editpeople.jobs.leave.viewpeople.jobs.start_date.viewpeople.jobs.end_date.finaliseANDpeople.jobs.end_date.viewpeople.jobs.delete
Click Save.
The Job Actions button will now appear on job records if at least one of the above permissions is active.
Note: The Edit History option is automatically included within the Job Actions button when it is available. There is no separate permission required.
Additional information
Apply the Subordinates scope in most manager scenarios to allow leaders to manage their direct reports.
If a button does not appear, review both the permission scope, whether the user is correctly assigned to the permission group and the reporting structure if a subordinate permission is assigned.
