Follow this guide to resume a draft contract and complete issuing, or delete a draft you no longer need.
A contract is saved as a draft when you start the issuing process, but do not complete it. Humanforce HR automatically saves your progress as you work. Draft contracts also appear when a contract fails to send during bulk issuing.
Permissions note: Users with limited permissions may not be able to view or manage all draft contracts. Contact your administrator if you cannot access the Draft tab on the Contracts page.
Part 1: Resume a draft contract
Navigate to Organisation > Contracts.
Click the Draft tab.
Locate the contract you want to resume and click Resume, or click the contract name.
-
Choose how to continue:
Resume with saved content – Continues the contract with the body content as it was when the draft was saved. Signers and viewers are refreshed from the current version of the template, but the contract body will not reflect any changes made to the template since the draft was created. Click Resume draft to proceed.
Discard draft and restart from beginning – Deletes the current draft and creates a new one from scratch. You can select a different contract template and contract start date at this step. Click Restart draft to proceed. You will be redirected to the new draft.
If any signers or viewers could not be resolved automatically, the Assign Signers step appears. Search for and assign each unresolved signer or viewer, then click Next: Contract.
On the Contract step, review the contract title and placeholder values. If any placeholder shows Unknown value, click Resolve Value and enter the correct information. Click Next: Review once all values are resolved. You can also click Save and close to save your progress and return to the draft later.
On the Review & Send step, confirm the recipients and contract details. Click View Contract Preview to check the contract body if needed.
Click Send Contract.
Each signer receives an email with a link to review and sign the contract. The contract moves from the Draft tab to Pending status.
Part 2: Delete a draft contract
Navigate to Organisation > Contracts.
Click the Draft tab.
Locate the draft contract you want to remove.
Click Delete and confirm when prompted.
The draft contract is removed and no longer appears in the Draft tab.

Additional information
Auto-save - Humanforce HR saves your progress automatically as you fill in the contract. To save and exit without issuing, click Save and close. You will see a "Contract draft saved" confirmation. Your draft will be waiting in the Draft tab when you return.
Who can see draft contracts - Users with the Manage contracts permission can see all draft contracts across the organisation. Users with subordinate contract permissions can see draft contracts where the subject is their direct report. Draft contracts are hidden from users who do not have permission to view the subject person.
Subject cannot be changed - When resuming a draft (using either option), the subject person is locked. If you need to issue the contract for a different person, delete the draft and start a new contract.
If the original template has changed - When a draft is created, Humanforce HR takes a snapshot of the contract template at that point in time. If you resume using Resume with saved content, the contract body will reflect the template version at the time the draft was created, not any changes made since. If you want to use the latest version of the template, select Discard draft and restart from beginning. If the template has been deleted, the restart flow will default to the first available template in the dropdown.
If the template has been unpublished - You can still resume and issue a draft contract even if the template it was based on has since been unpublished.
If a different user resumes your draft - Any user with permission to view the draft can resume and complete it. If a user other than the person who originally started the contract resumes and issues it, they become the contract issuer.
