Follow this guide to customise a dashboard in Humanforce Analytics by adding tabs, filters and notes — so you can organise your visualisations, focus the data on what matters, and give viewers helpful context.
Before you start
- You need Dashboard Publisher access to edit a dashboard. If you can only view dashboards, you won't see the Edit option.
- It helps to know what each element does:
- Tabs organise and group related visualisations. Humanforce-built dashboards use an Overview, Deep Dive and Raw Data tab. You can also use tabs to bring together key data across different areas — for example, Diary Notes, Performance Management, Goals and Tasks.
- Filters narrow the data shown across the dashboard, so viewers can focus on a specific group, date range or category.
- Notes add instructional or contextual information directly on the dashboard.
Enter Edit mode
Each of the tasks below starts the same way — by putting the dashboard into Edit mode.
- Click the meatball icon (⋯) in the upper-right corner of the dashboard.
- Select Edit from the menu.
- Click the + Add button at the top of the screen. The Add menu opens with three options: Note, Filter and Tab.
The dashboard is now in Edit mode, and you can add any of the elements below.
Part 1: Add a note
- From the + Add menu, click Note. A note component is added to the dashboard.
- Click into the note component and begin typing your text.
- Resize the note by dragging its edges, and move it to your chosen position on the dashboard.
Your note appears on the dashboard and displays your text to anyone viewing it.
Part 2: Add a filter
- From the + Add menu, click Filter. The Filters side tray opens with a list of available filters.
- Use the search bar to narrow the list to the filter you want.
- Click the filter you want to add.
- Choose your default filter settings.
- Click Apply.
The filter appears on the dashboard, and the visualisations update to reflect your default settings.
Part 3: Add a tab
- From the + Add menu, click Tab. A new tab is added to the dashboard.
- Click the downward-pointing arrow on the new tab to open its options:
- Rename — give the tab a clear, descriptive name.
- Delete — remove the tab.
The new tab appears alongside your existing tabs, ready for you to add visualisations.
Additional information
- Set up your tabs first, then add the visualisations and filters that belong on each one — this keeps related content grouped together.
- Use clear tab names so viewers can find the data they need at a glance.
- Humanforce is highly configurable, so you may not have the permissions or access needed to perform this task. Reach out to your IT Helpdesk or System Administrator to check your permission settings and licensing arrangements.
