Overview
In Event Manager, there are several potential places to create shifts. You can create:
- Shifts directly associated with an Event (Event Shift Requirements)
- Shifts associated with a Labour Group at the Event level
- Shifts directly associated with a Function (Function Shift Requirements)
- Shifts associated with a Labour Group at the Function level
Shifts in a Labour Group behave differently from those not in a Labour group, so it's important to have policies in place about what your company will use. The following chart shows the differences in how shift with and without a Labour Group can be maintained.

In general, if using the Event Planner in the Back Office is important to you, Labour Groups will be important. However, if not using the Event Planner, creating the shifts directly on the Event or Function will provide more flexibility within Humanforce Web.
Creating the Shifts
Without Labour Group
To create a shift directly on the event or function, expand the section for Event (or Function) Shift Requirements and click Add Shift Requirements.
Filter for the Location and Department you wish to create shifts for.
Note: If your Event or Function has been set up for a particular Location and
Department, ensure these filters match what was set up.
Enter a count of how many of each role you will need to fill for the event, as well as the times and break info for the shifts. Once you are finished, click Add.
If you need to create additional shifts or shifts in a different department, you can repeat this as many times as needed.
With Labour Group
Expand the section for Labour Group for the Event or Function and click Add Labour Group.
Name the Labour Group and define the times, location, and department. A separate labour group should be set up for each location/department combination, if needed.
Expand the Labour Group and click on Add Shift Requirements.
Filter for the same Location and Department as the Labour Group. Enter a count of how many of each role you will need to fill for the event, as well as the times and break info for the shifts. Once you are finished, click Add.
Assigning the shifts
After the shifts are created, you can fill them from the Event Manager by using the icon of the person on the far right.
A list of eligible employees for this role will display. Tick the box on the rows of the employee(s) you want to assign to the shift. You can tick as many boxes as you have available shifts. You can also choose to hide unavailable employees with the filters above the grid.
