Follow this guide to view, filter, and bid for available shifts in Humanforce WFM (Web). Shift bidding allows you to express interest in available shifts or, if enabled, exchange an existing shift for another.
You’ll only see shifts that match your assigned roles, locations, and qualifications.
Access to Shift Bidding is permission-based. If you can’t see Shift Bidding under the Employee menu, contact your manager or system administrator.
Part 1: Customise your view
Before submitting a bid, you can customise your Shift Bidding view to focus on relevant shifts.
- Go to Employee > Shift Bidding.
The Shift Bidding page displays shifts by day, showing:- Days with available shifts
- Your confirmed shifts
- Shifts you’ve already bid on
- Shifts offered to you
- To filter available shifts:
- Click the
Filter icon at the top of the page.
- Select options such as Hrs, Location, Department, Role, or Status.
- This helps you narrow down to the most relevant open shifts.

- To customise which details appear in the table:
- Click the ⚙️ Settings icon.
- Select or deselect columns such as Area, Event, or Function.
- To identify shifts available for exchange:
- Look for the
blue exchange icon beside an open shift.
- This means you can bid to exchange your current shift for that one.
- Exchange bidding requires specific permissions - if unavailable, speak to your manager.
- Look for the
Once you’ve adjusted your filters and table view, you’re ready to submit your bid.
Part 2: Submit a shift bid
- On the Shift Bidding page, select a date that lists open shifts.
- Click the date to expand and view shift details.
- Tick the checkbox next to one or more open shifts you’d like to bid for.
- You can bid on multiple shifts across different days in one submission.
- Click Submit Bid.
- A confirmation pop-up appears, summarising your selected shifts.
- Review your selections and click Confirm.
The shift status changes to Submitted, confirming your bid has been recorded.
After your bid is submitted, your roster manager will review it. If your bid is successful, the shift will update to Offered on the Shift Bidding page, or appear in your roster as Confirmed once approved.
Part 3: Manage your bids
After submitting your bids, you can track, withdraw, or respond to offered shifts from the Shift Bidding page.
Withdraw a bid
- Locate a shift with Submitted status.
- Click the
Actions menu and select
Withdraw.
- Confirm when prompted.
Confirm an offered shift
- Locate a shift with
Offered status.
- Click the
Actions menu and select
Confirm.
- Confirm when prompted.
- The shift is automatically added to your roster and updates to Confirmed status.
Decline an offered shift
- Find the shift with
Offered status.
- Click the
Actions menu and select
Decline.
- Confirm when prompted.
Your Shift Bidding page and roster update automatically after each action. Confirmed shifts will appear in Employee > Rosters.
Additional information
- Shift statuses:
- Open - Available for bidding
- Submitted - You’ve submitted a bid
- Offered - Manager has offered you the shift
- Confirmed - Shift has been added to your roster
- If you can’t see available shifts:
- Confirm with your manager that shifts have been published
- Check that you meet role, qualification, and location requirements
- Verify that the shifts haven’t already been accepted by others
- Ensure you have permission to bid or exchange shifts
