Follow this guide to create and update goals in Humanforce HR.
Employees can create their own goals, and supervisors can create or update goals on behalf of their employees. Goals help track progress, align work to organisational objectives, and support performance conversations.
This article covers:
Part 1: Create a goal
From the Dashboard, navigate to the My Active Goals tile and select Set a Goal.
Alternatively, use the Quick Create menu on the top menu or go to My Profile > Goals.Select Create Goal.
Optional: In Set goal for, add one or more employees or select a Business Unit to apply the same goal to multiple people.
-
Optional: Select Choose alignment to align your goal to:
An organisational objective, or
A goal that has been shared with you by a colleague.
-
Optional: In Allow and request people to align with your goal, enter the names of people you want to share the goal with so they can align their own goals to this goal.
-
Optional: Select a Goal template, if available.
Goal templates pre-fill key details such as Name, Category, Description, and Goal measurements. -
Complete the required fields:
Name
Category
Date range
Description (you can include links to external resources)
Weight - The weight of a goal is its importance relative to other goals. Requirement of this field is determined by your organisation.
Review the Progress status, which defaults to Not started.
-
In Goal measurements, add one or more measurement types:
Target – Enter a positive Target quantity and Unit of measure (for example, 50 customer enquiries called).
Action item – Add an action and describe the activity (for example, develop onboarding training manual).
Select Create Goal.
If your organisation has Goal Approvals enabled, the goal will appear with an approval status of Submitted, Awaiting Approval. If the goal was created by a supervisor on behalf of an employee, it is automatically approved. Visit the Goal Approval help guide to learn more.
Part 2: Edit a goal
If details need to change after a goal is created, employees and managers can update the goal from the goal display page or goal summaries.
Go to Home > My Goals.
Alternatively, go to My Profile > Goals.Select the relevant goal.
Select More options (three dots), then select Edit goal.
Update the required fields.
Select Save.
If goal approval is enabled and the goal owner makes the change, their manager is notified to approve the update. If a manager makes the change, it is automatically approved, and the goal owner is notified.
Additional information
Goals awaiting approval display a status of Submitted, awaiting approval on the goal page, profile, and dashboard.
Once approved, the status updates to Approved and a notification is sent.
Supervisors creating goals for employees do not require approval.
