Follow this guide to start, send, and manage direct and group chat messages in the Humanforce Work app.
Part 1: Start a chat from the Messages screen

Open the Humanforce Work app on your mobile device.

Tap the Messages icon in the bottom navigation bar and go to the Chat beta tab.

Tap the new message icon (pencil symbol) in the bottom right corner.

In the Search or Select users screen, begin typing the name of a team member.

Tap a name to add that user to the chat.

You can select a single user or multiple users.

Tap the yellow > icon in the bottom right of the screen to open the chat window.
Once you send the first message, a new chat thread is created, and it will remain accessible in your chat list.
Part 2: Start a chat from the Schedule screen

Tap the Schedule icon in the bottom navigation bar.

Select any schedule element such as:

Shifts
-
Shift offers
-
Shift bids
-
Leave
-
Availability
-

In the details screen, tap the Chat icon at the top right.

Choose the person you want to message.

Tap the yellow send icon to continue to the message screen.

A structured summary will auto-populate in the chat.

Add your custom message below and tap Send.
This gives the recipient immediate context for your message, reducing back-and-forth.
Part 2: Send messages and attachments

In the chat thread, type your message into the Message field.

Tap the paperclip or + icon to add an attachment:

Image from device gallery or camera

Video from your device
-
Link (URL previews will display below the message)

Document (eg, pdf)

Tap the lightening icon to send a gif via Giphy. Enter the type of gif you want to send, tap send, and a list of gifs will be presented for you to choose. Tap send when you have chosen your image.

Tap Send to deliver the message.
Each user in the chat will see all replies and shared content in the thread. You can return to the chat any time to continue the conversation.
Part 3: Track and identify unread messages

From the Chats list view, look for:

A counter showing the number of unread messages next to the chat.

A counter in the ‘Chat beta’ heading indicating the number of unread messages

Open the chat to mark all messages as read.
The unread message counter helps you quickly identify which conversations need your attention.
Additional Information

If you add more than one user to a chat, it becomes a group chat, and all participants can view and respond to messages.
- Note: You may not be able to chat with some users if they do not have the appropriate permissions enabled. Please contact your administrator.
