The Chat system in Humanforce WFM enhances internal communication by enabling one-to-one and group direct messaging for managers and employees. Designed for users of the Humanforce Work app and web platform, this feature streamlines conversations across locations and roles—without relying on external messaging tools.
Chat is currently available as a beta release in the Work app and Humanforce web, and is separate from the legacy Classic app messaging system.
To enable the Chat beta for your organisation, please log a support ticket via Humanforce Help.
Capabilities
One-to-one and group messaging
Start private conversations or group threads from your desktop or mobile device:
- Work app: Use the Messages > Chat beta tab or initiate chats from shift, leave, or availability records.
- Humanforce web: Access the new Employee > Messages > Chat page.
Messages stay synced across platforms for a consistent experience and chat threads remain accessible in your message list for easy follow-up.

Advanced user filters (Humanforce WFM only)
Narrow your messaging audience using filters by region, location, department, role, or pay company. This helps ensure messages are directed to relevant teams without unnecessary noise.
Access and permissions
Quickly enable Chat with minimal setup. Access is controlled through Access Level permissions, so you can specify who can start chats or message across departments, locations, and authorisation levels.

Start a chat from the Messages screen (Work app)
Use the Chat beta tab in the Humanforce Work app to launch a new message. You can select one or more team members and create a thread that remains visible for future reference.
Start a chat from the Schedule screen (Work app)
Initiate chats directly from shift, leave, or availability records. The chat window auto-fills with relevant schedule information, giving recipients immediate context.
Rich messaging features
Send more than just text. Enhance communication with:
- Emojis, GIFs, images, and videos
- Links (with previews)
- Document attachments (e.g. PDFs)
- Threaded replies for context in fast-moving chats
All participants can view and reply in the shared conversation.
Stay on top of unread messages
Unread counters highlight active conversations needing attention. You can quickly identify unread chats from the main Chat list or the Chat beta tab header.

How do I start using the new chat?
Contact Humanforce Support to enable it for your organisation. If you're using the Classic app, continue with the legacy system for now.
Can Classic app users chat with Work app users?
No. The new and old systems do not interact.
Will historical messages be available?
Yes. Users can still view existing messages in the Classic app and old web interface during the transition.
Is chat available to all users?
Only users with configured access permissions can use the new system.
How can I send a read-only broadcast message to my employees?
To share a read-only message with your team, use Noticeboard in the Humanforce web app. Your message will be delivered to both legacy and Work app users.
