The new highly configurable Timesheets page will soon be replacing the Daily Authorisation and Period Authorisation pages (see End of Life Notice).
In this article we'll cover:
- Available Date Navigation Options:
- Transitioning to Timesheets from Daily Authorisation
Check out the new Timesheets page in Management > Timesheets > Timesheets and read on for how to set permissions so your Timesheets page displays the way you like it, including how to replicate the Daily Authorisation view you're used to.
The new Timesheets page can be found in Management > Timesheets > Timesheets.
There are three permission-based options available for the Timesheets page:
- Today's date only
- Single date - with navigation to other dates
- Date ranges - with navigation to other single dates
Option 1: Restricted to Today's date only - no access to other dates
This option means users will not have permission to change the date to view timesheets on other dates.
To ensure the Timesheets page shows only today's Timesheets, with no ability to navigate to any other dates:
- Go to Admin > Security Config > Access Levels
- For the relevant Access Level row, click Edit
- Click on the Permissions tab
- Search for Timesheet Authorisation
- Expand the row for View Timesheet Authorisation Page
- Ensure the item Allow daily view navigation is not ticked. If it is ticked, untick the checkbox and click Apply Changes.
Option 2: Single Date - with navigation (Daily View)
This option provides functionality similar to the Daily Authorisation screen (deprecated Oct 2023) offering the user a 'daily view' of the timesheets with the flexibility of changing dates.
See the below Transitioning to Timesheets from Daily Authorisation to understand how the Daily Auth screen uses this permission.
To ensure the Timesheets page shows today's Timesheets, and provides the ability to navigate to any other single date:
- Go to Admin > Security Config > Access Levels
- For the relevant Access Level row, click Edit
- Click on the Permissions tab
- Search for Timesheet Authorisation
- Ensure the item View Timesheet Authorisation Page is ticked, and expand the row
- Ensure the item Allow daily view navigation is ticked.
- Ensure the item Allow date range navigation is not ticked.
- After altering the selections, click Apply Changes.
With this permission active, the Timesheet Screen will display a single date, and allow navigation to other single dates by:
- using the 'previous' and 'next' arrows
- clicking the date itself and using the calendar feature to select another date
Option 3: Date Range - with navigation (Period View)
This option provides functionality similar to the Period Authorisation screen (deprecated Oct 2023) offering the user visibility of timesheets across a date range.
See the below Transitioning to Timesheets from Daily Authorisation to understand how the Daily Auth screen uses this permission.
To be able to view and navigate both single dates and date ranges in the Timesheet screen, and provides the ability to navigate to any other date range:
- Go to Admin > Security Config > Access Levels
- For the relevant Access Level row, click Edit
- Click on the Permissions tab
- Search for Timesheet Authorisation
- Expand the row for View Timesheet Authorisation Page
- Ensure the item Allow date range navigation is ticked.
- After altering the selections, click Apply Changes.
With the Allow date range navigation permission active, the Timesheet page will display the current date range and allow navigation to other date ranges by:
- using the 'previous' and 'next' arrows
- clicking the date itself and using the calendar feature to select another date range, or single date (by clicking the same date twice).
Transitioning to Timesheets from Daily Authorisation screen
Daily Authorisation screen users may notice the Timesheets screen displays the date selection field differently compered to how it appears in Daily Auth.
The permissions that control what dates a user is able to view and navigate to are the same for both Daily Authorisation and the Timesheets screens, but each permission provides a different view depending on the screen.
Admins updating their Managers permissions will need to be aware any changes may impact the behaviour of the Daily Auth screen, until that screen is retired.
See below table to replicate the Daily Authorisation views on the Timesheet screen.
Date Field Behaviour |
