Follow this guide to tailor how shift information is displayed in Roster Manager, so you can focus on the most relevant details and quickly spot what matters to your team.
Whether you're filtering down to specific people, roles or locations, or adjusting how shift tiles appear, these settings help you take control of your roster layout and clarity.
Filters, groupings, sorting, or shift tile changes are user-specific and do not affect other users’ views.
Part 1: Filter shifts to control what appears on the roster
- Click the Filter icon
in the top toolbar.
- The filter panel will open with multiple filter options.
- Select one or more of the following options to refine what is shown:
- Employee code/names
- Region
- Location
- Department
- Role
- Area
- Assignment
- Status
- Shift definition
- Employment Type
- Event
- Function
- Shift type
- Event type
- Labour Group
- Click Apply to update the roster view.
When filters are active:
- A number appears beside each option to show how many values are applied
- The funnel icon displays a red dot
- Hover over the funnel icon to reveal an X
to quickly remove all filters
The roster will now show only the shifts matching your selected criteria.
Part 2: Use the date picker to control the roster period
- Click on the date range selector in the top toolbar.
- Choose from one of the standard period buttons: 1 week, 2 weeks, or 4 weeks; or click Custom.
- Select the start date using the calendar.
- Use the arrow buttons to move between months.
- Today’s date is outlined with a box.
- If using a custom period, also select an end date.
- You can view between 1 and 60 days of roster data at a time.
- Click Apply to confirm.
The roster will now show shifts within your selected date range.
Part 3: Group shifts by key attributes to organise your view
- Click the Group by button in the top toolbar.
- Select how you would like shifts grouped. Options include:
- Location
- Department
- Area
- Event
- Shift Definition
- Employment Type
- Location and Department
- Location Group and Location (only available in Role view)
- Labour Group (only available in Role view for single-day rosters)
The roster will refresh and display shifts grouped by the selected attribute, helping you interpret shift distribution more clearly.
Part 4: Sort employees in People view
When using People view, you can sort employees to help prioritise workload visibility.
- Click the Sort by dropdown in the top toolbar (only visible in People view).
- Choose from:
- Employee (default alphabetical order)
- Rostered hours (highest to lowest)
- Cost (highest to lowest)
The roster will refresh based on the selected sort order. Rostered hours and cost totals are displayed below each employee’s name for easy comparison.
Part 5: Configure the shift cell to display the most useful information
You can control what appears on each shift tile depending on your roster view.
For People and Role views:
- Click the Settings icon
in the top right corner of the roster.
- Scroll through the list of available shift tile fields (e.g. Location, Department, Role, Shift Type).
- Use the toggles to turn fields on
or off

- Drag fields up or down using the handle icon
to change the display order.
- Choose how employee names appear: First Name/Last Name or Roster Name.
For Shift view:
- Select a Role in the roster.
- Click the Settings icon
within the Role summary window.
- Scroll through the list of available fields.
- Toggle fields on or off, and use drag handles to reorder them.
Your shifts will now reflect the most relevant data, making it easier to scan and manage shifts.
