Follow this guide to manage large numbers of shifts efficiently in Template Manager using bulk actions. Whether you're creating, updating, or removing shifts, bulk actions streamline the scheduling process and reduce manual repetition.
Part 1: Add multiple shifts
- Go to Management > Rostering > Template Manager.
- Open the template where you want to add shifts.
- Click Actions, then select + Add shifts.
- Click the Select Shift Days dropdown
.
- Tick the checkboxes
beside the days you want to apply the shifts to.
- You can select multiple days across the full length of the template.
- Tick the checkboxes
- Select a Location and Department, then click Apply.
- For each role shown:
- Enter the number of shifts needed in the Shift Count field (use arrows
or type directly).
- Update the shift details as needed:
- Area, Event, Function, Shift Type, Start/End time, or Breaks.
- Each role row can only have one set of shift details.
- To create shifts with different times or conditions for the same role:
- Click the + icon at the far right of the role row.
- A new row for that role will appear, where you can enter alternate details.
- Enter the number of shifts needed in the Shift Count field (use arrows
- Click Add Shifts.
The new shifts will be added to the template as unassigned shifts.
Part 2: Bulk confirm or unconfirm shifts
- Decide which shifts you want to action:

All Shifts - This applies the action to all shifts that meet the current filters and date range.
- Apply Filters (e.g. by location, department, role, shift status, or date range) to narrow the template scope. This ensures only the relevant shifts are included in the bulk action, up to the system’s limits.

Selected Shifts - This applies the action only to individual shifts you select manually.
- Hold Ctrl (or Cmd on Mac) and click each shift to select it.
- A border will appear around each selected shift to confirm your selection.

All Shifts - This applies the action to all shifts that meet the current filters and date range.
- Click Actions.
- Select
Confirm or
Unconfirm, depending on the shift’s current status.
- Choose All Shifts or Selected Shifts.
Confirmed shifts show a green tick; unconfirmed shifts do not.
Part 3: Bulk unassign shifts
- Decide which shifts you want to action:

All Shifts - This applies the action to all shifts that meet the current filters and date range.
- Apply Filters (e.g. by location, department, role, shift status, or date range) to narrow the template scope. This ensures only the relevant shifts are included in the bulk action, up to the system’s limits.

Selected Shifts - This applies the action only to individual shifts you select manually.
- Hold Ctrl (or Cmd on Mac) and click each shift to select it.
- A border will appear around each selected shift to confirm your selection.

All Shifts - This applies the action to all shifts that meet the current filters and date range.
- Click Actions >
Unassign.
- Choose All Shifts or Selected Shifts.
- Click Yes to confirm.
Shifts will return to an unassigned state.
Part 4: Recost shifts
- Click Actions, then select
Recost.
All shifts in the current template will be recalculated using the latest award rules and pay rates.
Part 5: Bulk delete shifts
- Decide which shifts you want to action:

All Shifts - This applies the action to all shifts that meet the current filters and date range.
- Apply Filters (e.g. by location, department, role, shift status, or date range) to narrow the template scope. This ensures only the relevant shifts are included in the bulk action, up to the system’s limits.

Selected Shifts - This applies the action only to individual shifts you select manually.
- Hold Ctrl (or Cmd on Mac) and click each shift to select it.
- A border will appear around each selected shift to confirm your selection.

All Shifts - This applies the action to all shifts that meet the current filters and date range.
- Click Actions, then select
Delete.
- Choose All Shifts or Selected Shifts.
- Click Delete to confirm.
Deleted shifts are permanently removed from the template.
Access level permissions may restrict who can delete shifts. Check with your system administrator if options are unavailable.

Additional information
- Bulk actions apply only to shifts within the currently viewed template.
