Follow this guide to create, update, and manage individual shifts in a template. These actions help you customise shift structures, allocate employees, and prepare templates for import into rosters.
You can create, duplicate, assign, confirm, and delete shifts directly from the Template Manager grid.
Part 1: Add a shift to a template
- In Management > Rostering > Template Manager, open the required template.
- Click the + icon on any cell in the shift grid.
- Enter or review shift details, including:
- Location, Department, Role, Area, Function, Event
- Shift Type and Shift Definition
- Start and End Time
- Breaks (if applicable)
- (Optional) Select an employee in the Employee field to assign the shift immediately.
- Click Save.
The new shift will appear in the grid for the selected day.
Part 2: Duplicate a shift
- Left-click and hold the shift you want to duplicate.
- Drag the shift to the cell where you want to place the copy.
- Release to copy the shift to the new location.
The new shift will appear as a copy of the original, including all details and any assigned employee.
Part 3: Edit a shift
- Locate the shift in the grid.
- Either double-click the shift tile or click the three dots
and select
Edit shift.
- Update any relevant fields, including:
- Locations, roles, shift times or break settings
- Assigned employee
- Click Save.
The shift updates immediately in the template grid.
Part 4: Assign or unassign a shift
Assign a shift
- Click the three dots
on the shift tile.
- Select
Fill Shift.
- Use the filters to find an appropriate employee.
- Click the radio button
next to their name.
- Click Assign.
Unassign a shift
- Click the three dots
on the shift tile.
- Select
Unassign.
Assigned shifts will now display the employee's name and details.
Part 5: Confirm or unconfirm a shift
- Click the three dots
on the shift tile.
- Select
Confirm or
Unconfirm, depending on the current state.
A green tick will appear on confirmed shifts.
Part 6: Delete a shift
- Click the three dots
on the shift tile.
- Select
Delete.
- Confirm deletion when prompted.
The shift is permanently removed from the template.

Additional information
- Shifts can only be assigned to employees who match location, role, and availability criteria.
- You must have the appropriate Edit and Assign permissions for shifts.
- Visual icons on shift tiles help you identify status (e.g. assigned, confirmed, errors, or warnings).
