Follow this guide to identify, understand, and resolve shift alerts in Template Manager. Shift alerts help you address scheduling issues before using the template to generate or import a live roster.
Alerts must be configured and active in your system to enable this functionality. See Configure roster alerts in Clock-in Settings.
Part 1: Recognise alert indicators on shifts
Shift alerts appear directly on the template as coloured tiles, helping you quickly identify errors or warnings.
- Look for visual indicators on the shift tile:
-
Red background with a red alert icon
indicates a shift error. These shifts will not import into a roster until resolved.
-
Yellow background with a yellow alert icon
indicates a shift warning. These shifts are valid and will import, but should be reviewed.

- Hover over an alert icon
to view a short explanation of the issue.
- Use these indicators to identify shifts that require attention before the template can be used.
Part 2: Use the Alerts panel to review all issues
The Alerts panel provides a consolidated list of all current alerts within your visible template view.
- In the top-right corner of the Template Editor, click the alert icon
.
- A red badge on the icon indicates that the template contains active alerts.
- If no alerts appear, check your filters to ensure all shifts are visible.
- Try selecting
Reset Roster Filters to ensure all shifts are shown.
- Try selecting
- In the Alerts panel:
- Use the filter dropdown
to narrow the list by alert type (e.g. Working Hours, Qualifications).
- Click the arrow
next to each alert to expand and view more details.
- Use the filter dropdown
- Click the alert message to jump directly to the affected shift.
Part 3: Review and resolve alerts on individual shifts
- Double-click the shift tile, or click the three dots
and select
Edit shift.
- In the Edit Shift window, review the alert message in the header.
- Make any necessary changes to resolve the alert:
- Adjust shift time or duration
- Reassign or unassign an employee
- Update the role, location, or department
- Click Save.
Once resolved:
- Error shifts will no longer appear red and are valid for import.
- Warning shifts remain valid but may still show the yellow indicator if the advisory condition persists.

Additional information
- Shift errors must be resolved before the template can be used to generate or import a live roster.
- Shift warnings do not block the process but highlight potential issues.
- If you expect to see alerts but none are visible, clear or adjust filters to review the full template.
- To resolve qualification-related alerts, you may need to add or update the employee’s qualification. See Add a qualification to an employee.
