Follow this guide to confirm your region setup and enable daylight savings adjustments in Humanforce WFM. This ensures shifts are calculated correctly when clocks move forward or back in areas that observe daylight savings.
Part 1: Add or edit regions
- Go to Admin > Org Structure > Regions.
- To add a new region, click + Add region.
- Enter a Region name (for example, “New South Wales” or “Victoria”).
- To edit an existing region, click the
Edit icon beside the region name.
- Review and confirm the related settings.
- Click Save.
When saved successfully, your new or updated region will appear in the regions list and can be used for assigning employee or site locations.
Part 2: Enable daylight savings adjustments
- Stay in Admin > Org Structure > Regions.
- Locate the region that observes daylight savings and click
Edit.
- Tick Enable daylight savings adjustments.
- Click
Save to apply your change.
When daylight savings is enabled, Humanforce automatically checks the time zone when an employee clocks out. If the clock moves forward or back during a shift, the system adjusts the worked hours accordingly to reflect the actual time worked.
Example:
A rostered shift runs from 9:00pm to 5:00am on the day clocks move forward. With daylight savings enabled, the system subtracts one hour, so the shift records 7 actual hours worked instead of 8.
Incorrect daylight savings configuration may result in inaccurate shift durations or pay calculations. Confirm your settings before the daylight savings changeover.
Additional information
- If you wish to pay employees a full 8 hours for a forward clock change (rather than actual hours worked), disable the daylight savings adjustment before the change.
- When clocks move backward, the system adds an extra hour automatically, paying 9 hours worked for an 8-hour roster.
- This adjustment applies when the employee clocks out, so ensure settings are correct before the daylight savings date.
- If you’re unsure how your organisation should pay shifts that cross daylight savings changes, log a support ticket with payroll details and preferred pay outcomes.
